About
Playing in the Dirt is about having fun with horticulture. It is about the process more than the result. It is about finding and finding out.
I work part-time at a garden center that sits just about smack-dab on the line between Zones 5 and 6 here in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Saying that I work there is perhaps a bit of an overstatement since most of the time I am just covering for vacations and days off so aside from watering, I get paid for hanging out and talking to people about plants.
I have worked in production, wholesale and retail horticulture on and off for close to forty years and now I finally have the time to concentrate on my own little bit of earth and I intend to use this blog to help keep me focused and on track.
I am thinking there will be three different types of entries. The first will be installments on the progress of my various gardening and landscaping projects. The second will be reportsĀ on the vegetable garden andĀ experiments that I expect to turn out well. The final category will be a catch-all for rants, reviews and random nonsense.
I am so excited! I am really looking forward to reading your blog. It is going to be great to read what you’re up to since I don’t get to see you often enough!
Yay! I’ll look forward to reading!
